You do not have to carry it alone

A practical starting point for veterans, service members, first responders, Gold Star families, caregivers, survivors, and anyone trying to help someone they care about. Find the next right door — crisis support, housing, health care, benefits, employment, legal help, recovery, accessibility, or family support.

If there is immediate danger, call 911

If someone has already harmed themselves, taken an overdose, has an immediate suicide plan, or is threatening harm, move to safety and call 911.

What do you need help with?

These are official starting points, not a diagnosis or a substitute for emergency care. Veterans Unmasked is not a crisis line. Asking “Are you thinking about suicide?” does not put the idea into someone’s head. Listen, stay present, connect them with help, and do not promise secrecy when safety is at risk.
